Rental Terms & Conditions
Important Notices
- I agree to my credit card being charged when I do not have cash, or when I cause damage to the vehicle.
- Wearing a helmet is mandatory.
- Lost key charge: €20 for scooters, €30 for buggies and ATVs.
- Running out of fuel incurs a charge of €20.
- Unjustified road assistance calls are subject to a charge of €20.
- In case of damage to the vehicle due to my responsibility or theft, I agree to my card being charged up to the agreed excess amount.
1. Minimum Rental Duration
The minimum rental duration is two days. A delay of over 2 hours beyond the agreed return time is charged as an additional day.
2. Reservations
All reservations are based on a specific vehicle category. In the event of unavailability for a confirmed reservation, Freedom Wheels reserves the right to offer a vehicle of a similar or higher category at no extra charge.
3. Driver
Minimum age: 19 years for scooters, 21 years for ATVs, 24 years for buggies.
4. Driver's Licence
The driver is required to hold and present a valid driving licence issued at least one year prior. Citizens of non-EU countries must also hold a valid International Driving Licence in addition to their national licence.
5. Traffic Violations & Fines
All traffic violations and fines are the sole responsibility of the renter.
6. Payment
The renter is required to present a valid credit card or rental guarantee, even when paying in cash. The rental is prepaid.
7. After-Hours Delivery & Collection
Deliveries and collections outside of working hours are subject to a charge of €15.
8. Additional Driver
The first helmet is provided free of charge.
9. Fuel
The renter must return the vehicle with the same amount of fuel as at the time of collection. If the vehicle is returned with less fuel, the renter will be charged for the difference. No refunds are issued for vehicles returned with more fuel.
10. Accident
In the event of an accident, the renter must notify the company and the police, and present the Police Accident Report upon returning the vehicle. If the accident is caused by the renter, an administrative fee of €30 applies, plus charges for any period the vehicle is out of service.
11. Insurance
Our vehicles are insured against third-party damages. The driver, passengers, and the vehicle itself are excluded from this coverage. Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) is provided.
12. Theft & Fire Protection
The renter is liable for an excess of €500 in case of vehicle damage, provided they have accepted and signed the relevant terms. Charge: €20/day for all categories. Prerequisite: proof of non-negligence (e.g. vehicle was not left unlocked).
13. Road Assistance
Within Chania, road assistance during working hours is free. At weekends or outside working hours, the charge is €40. Outside Chania or in remote areas, a replacement vehicle will be provided if the breakdown is not caused by the renter.
14. Helmet
If the helmet is not returned, a charge of €60 applies.
15. Passenger Policy
For motorcycles, ATVs, and buggies, a maximum of two passengers is allowed. If a third passenger is found, the vehicle will be confiscated and a fine of €120 will be imposed.
